Corn

Corn is one of the world’s most productive and dominant crops. It is grown extensively as food for both humans and livestock, as a biofuel, and as a crude material in industry. Corn is the third largest plant-based food source in the world. Despite its importance as a major food in many parts of the world, corn is inferior to other cereals in nutritional value. Corn is also used to produce ethanol (ethyl alcohol), a first-generation liquid biofuel. Many parts of the corn plant are used in industry, and several types of corn are grown primarily for their industrial applications.
